The Scrappy Brothers

I love the Scrappy Brothers.

The Scrappies, specifically Scrappy One and Scrappy Two, showed up last 'bear season' around October 10th and hung around right until the end, sparring and playfighting usually twice a day everyday. You could almost set your watch by them - first bout at 9:30am, second round at 2:00pm.

Both of them had real personality and left a lot of great memories but one of my favourites occurred on the warmest day of October. It was hot, probably 15-20C, and no bears were in the mood to do anything. In the midst of the afternoon sun, Scrappy One dragged himself over to Scrappy Two, still panting and overheating, seemed to nudge him and say 'You ready?', Scrappy Two looked back and seemed to nod.

Together, they got up walked out into Hudson Bay until they were up to their necks in the cool ocean water and then got up and started sparring!

Those were cool bears.
